FTP Backup Access Disabled Without Notice

Hello MonsterASP.NET Support Team,

Until today at 23:00 UTC, I was successfully taking database backups using the FTP Backup Access feature. However, without any prior notice or explanation, the feature has suddenly been disabled on my account. This is extremely concerning, especially since reliable access to database backups is a critical part of my workflow and data protection strategy.

I rely on manual backup retrieval through FTP to ensure redundancy and protection against data loss. Depending on the Automatic Backups alone is not feasible, as they have been unstable in the past — and the current unavailability reinforces this concern.

I need urgent clarification on the following points:

Why was my FTP backup access disabled without notification?

When will this feature be re-enabled for my account?

If the automatic system is being deprecated or changed, what alternative methods are provided for users to manually and securely download their database backups?

Additionally, I request that manual backup creation and download remain available at all times, independent of the automatic system, to prevent similar issues from blocking data access in the future.

Please treat this as a priority issue and provide a clear explanation and resolution as soon as possible.

We’d like to ask for a little patience. We are currently moving our backup systems to a new data center. This change is part of our ongoing effort to improve data protection – the goal is to keep backups not only on separate servers, but also in different geographic locations.

The new setup will provide higher security and reliability. Even in case of a regional outage or an international connection issue, your data will remain protected and accessible. Everything will, of course, be fully restored to the same functional state as before once the transfer is completed.

We’re carrying out the migration carefully to make sure all data stays safe and intact.

Create manual backup is of course possible. This feature remains fully operational and is not affected by the current migration process.

Hello,

Access to FTP backups has been fully restored. Please note that this was not outage of customers main services, but only temporary unavailability of backups accessible via Control Panel and FTP access. This downtime occurred during transfer of 20 TB of backups data between data centers.

We apologize inconvenience and appreciate your patience. We believe this change will significantly improve security and reliability of backups in event of any future outages.

However, I’d like to kindly suggest that in the future, when such maintenance or migrations are planned — especially those that temporarily affect access to critical features like backups — customers be notified in advance. This would help us take the necessary precautions and avoid any disruption in our workflow.
